This is a good start. However, what is the big project? Are you doing a weekly weather report for the school ..... your center of your concept map should be the big project that you will present to an audience bigger than your class. Though it is not perfect, go to http://sites.google.com/site/weatherwatchers65/ to get some ideas.
Once you decide what the big project is, then you will need to figure out how to accomplish it. All this needs to be figured out before you start your lesson plans this week. Let me know what you decide.
would something like a weather exploration week work. The class would take a look at the four different aspects of weather listed above and then give a news cast to the school about the weather for that day? For example students can talk about the chance of having an earth quake that day by means of looking at the day's seismograph, they can talk about the chance of precipitation based on their knowledge of looking at radar maps, they will also talk about what types of clouds students may see throughout the day as well as the temperature and air pressures for the day. Would something like this work as our big idea?
Thanks for the feedback. I was a bit confused as to why we didn't get full credit, but now I understand. I think doing a forecast to the school over the school news channel would be great! That way the students have to search for ways to predict the weather and possible weather for the time of year. Great idea! I hope it works, because I want to get our lesson plans organized and determine who is doing what.
I agree sarah that sounds good, so do you think we could learn about all of them and then do the weather cast at the end of the week or do a weather cast each day?
I think it looks great!
